At RPS, we deliver expert commercial and strategic advice to governments and private sector clients on some of the most complex and high-profile infrastructure projects in the Asia-Pacific region. As a Director - Transactions, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the successful delivery of major projects across Water, Transport (Road/Rail), Energy and Major Events infrastructure (e.g. Olympic/Paralympic Games).
The Role
We're looking for a respected infrastructure advisory professional with a deep understanding of commercial structuring, procurement strategy, and transaction management across the full project lifecycle. The purpose of the successful candidate will be to win and work on high-value, public sector infrastructure deals with a focus on Queensland and thrive leading multi-disciplinary teams.
As well as project work this role will lead an internal team of RPS transaction professionals based in Queensland, provide leadership, line management, mentoring and build team culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead team and clients in strategy, development and execution of major infrastructure transactions.
- Manage project teams to deliver against budget performance.
- Lead strategic business development, with a particular focus on major infrastructure transactions, but also promote cross selling of other services and divisions.
- Lead Queensland transaction team in work winning of major transaction contracts, including leveraging network and leading business development of internal transaction team. This includes identifying and helping secure a set annual revenue target each year.
- Provide advanced level advice and guidance to project teams and clients and undertake peer reviews.
- Coordinate transaction programs and the use of project resources.
- Thought leadership and market-facing activities such as participating at industry events to position RPS as a leading consultant and translate that positioning into work for the business.
- Engage with decision-makers and industry leaders to spot future market trends or opportunities and shape the direction of the service or discipline.
- Remain current through exposure to contemporary service line developments and knowledge sharing. Professional development as appropriate.
- Identify and lead the adoption of innovations and technology as it applies with a view to the future demands of our clients and the market generally.
- Maintain a professional public profile at all times.
Essential experience and attributes include:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Commerce or Law backed by 15+years of experience in top-tier consultancy or government agency.
- Demonstrated experience in successful transactions in Water, Energy, Transport (Road/Rail), or major building infrastructure.
- Deep knowledge of public sector procurement frameworks, particularly in Queensland.
- Strong understanding of risk allocation, commercial principles, and market dynamics.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and leadership capabilities, through interpersonal communication and negotiation skills.
- Proven ability to develop long-term business relationships with clients and industry partners.
- Superior communication skills including the ability to write clearly and accurately as well as speak confidently and eloquently.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team and work cooperatively with people at all levels to achieve desired outcomes.
