Play a key role in shaping an extraordinary Wollongong by planning, scheduling, and supporting maintenance programs-both preventative and reactive-across a diverse range of council infrastructure assets, parks and open spaces.

As an
Operations and Maintenance Planning Officer
, you'll be the link between Councils Asset Management Plan, customer requests and our on-the-ground teams.
Your mission?
To keep maintenance programs running smoothly across Council-owned assets, with a strong emphasis on revitalising town centres and villages throughout the Wollongong LGA. You will coordinate an uplift program designed to enhance the vibrancy, safety, and presentation of our public spaces. This initiative complements our regular maintenance schedule focused on ensuring our assets remain safe, functional, and appealing.
These are Permanent Full-Time positions. Salary from $93,557.88 up to $106,378.28 per annum, plus superannuation and an operational motor vehicle under leaseback for private use.
(Salary package will be assessed based on skills, experience and qualifications).
This is a hands-on role, applicants must be physically capable of undertaking manual tasks relating to the role and dependent on operational requirements, on-call, weekend or over-time work may be required.
What you will do
- Plan and schedule
maintenance programs and revitalisation activities across Council assets - delivering town centre upgrades, village enhancements, and city-wide blitzes to keep Wollongong's public spaces looking their best - Use
digital platforms
(like TechOne, MS Project)
to manage workflows, allocate work, prioritise tasks, and keep everything on track. - Inspect sites
, monitor asset condition, ensure compliance with quality and safety standards, and respond to customer enquiries to keep the community informed. - Coordinate contractors and manage small projects
to ensure work is delivered on time, on budget, and meets quality and compliance standards. - Work closely with internal teams and stakeholders
so everyone's informed and aligned. - Keep an eye on
asset data
and help improve how we manage resources for better efficiency. - From time to time,
roll up your sleeves for minor maintenance tasks
to support the team.
About you
You're someone who loves turning plans into action. Organised and proactive, you know how to keep things moving and make sure nothing gets missed. You're comfortable using digital tools to schedule and prioritise work, and you're just as confident out in the field inspecting sites and checking quality.
You'll bring:
- Relevant qualifications and licences, such as a Diploma or Certificate IV in engineering, horticulture, or asset management,
or
substantial equivalent experience in a related field. - Strong
communication
skills to work with internal teams and stakeholders. - The ability to
plan and coordinate
tasks to meet deadlines. - Experience with
work scheduling and digital platforms
(Eg. TechOne, or similar). - The ability to
manage contractors and small projects
, ensuring compliance and quality. - Knowledge of
asset management principles
and WHS in operational environments. - A current
Class C driver's licence
