About The Role

National Intermodal is seeking a HV Electrical Engineer for a full-time, permanent position based in either the Melbourne CBD or Sydney CBD office. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be accountable for providing expert advice and guidance to Project Managers and engineering consultants across a range of engineering and design issues throughout the development lifecycle of new Intermodal Terminal Precincts.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading technical activities related to the primary and secondary design of high-voltage substations and HV distribution networks, including primary and protection design for substations and related infrastructure within National Intermodal Precincts, ensuring staged future-proofing of developments.
  • Delivering high-quality technical advice and providing engineering technical guidance to Project Managers and external consultants to ensure consistency across all National Intermodal developments.
  • Liaising with Electrical Authorities to clearly identify project risks.
  • Developing project-specific technical requirements and scopes of work for inclusion in project plans.
  • Collaborating with engineering and project teams to deliver timely and accurate documentation and reports.
  • Reviewing design submissions to National Intermodal from suppliers and contractors, providing technical comments.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, recognized by Engineers Australia.
  • Experience in renewable technologies, such as solar farm or wind farm connection substation projects.
  • Extensive experience in major infrastructure projects is essential.
  • Proven experience in substation primary engineering for HV/EHV substations (up to 132kV ideally).
  • Demonstrated interest in power system and/or earthing system engineering.
  • Experience with intermodal terminal or logistics precinct projects is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of interfacing with rail networks.
  • Significant construction, testing, and commissioning experience with power supply systems.
  • Working knowledge of earthing systems in accordance with AS 3000.
