About the Role

Are you a strategic leader with deep expertise in telecommunications compliance? We're looking for a Network Operations Compliance Director to ensure our network operates in full alignment with all regulatory obligations, including those governed by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA). This is a high-impact leadership role where your decisions will shape operational compliance across all network activities.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the development and execution of network compliance strategies aligned with ACMA and other regulatory bodies.
  • Act as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities, Communications Alliance, and government stakeholders.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes, assessing impacts on operations.
  • Provide independent oversight of network operations to ensure compliance with both external regulations and internal governance standards.
  • Oversee the implementation of external review recommendations and corrective actions.
  • Partner with Risk, Legal, and Compliance teams to report and remediate identified gaps.
  • Ensure full compliance with Emergency Call Service obligations, including location accuracy, call routing, and system resilience.
  • Lead incident response and reporting for emergency service breaches.
  • Own and maintain the control register for Network Operations and lead assurance schedules.
  • Provide guidance and training to operational teams on regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and present regular compliance and control performance reports to executive leadership and regulatory authorities.
  • Lead internal investigations and oversee remediation of potential breaches.

Financial Impact:

  • Direct influence on mitigating regulatory risks and avoiding penalties exceeding $100M.

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law, Business, Telecommunications, or related field.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale operational compliance or assurance functions in telecommunications or critical infrastructure.
  • Deep understanding of ACMA, SOCI, carrier license frameworks, and emergency service continuity standards.
  • Strong leadership in operational governance, incident management, and risk frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to embed compliance into technical and operational environments.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) or equivalent.
  • Project Management certification (e.g., PMP) is advantageous.
