A world leading quantum tech company is expanding its hardware team and now hiring an
FPGA Engineer
to design and implement high-performance digital logic for advanced technology platforms.

In this role, you will develop FPGA designs with a strong emphasis on
hardware interfacing, real-time processing, and system integration
. You will work with
Verilog and Xilinx toolchains
to implement reliable, efficient designs that integrate directly with custom electronics and embedded software. This position offers the chance to contribute to innovative systems moving from research to field deployment.

This is a full-time role based in Sydney. Full relocation is required for interstate candidates; relocation allowance is provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop FPGA logic for high-speed A/D data capture, FFTs, and advanced DSP for real-time signal processing.
  • Design and implement HDL code (Verilog/VHDL) and simulation testbenches.
  • Use Xilinx development tools to build, optimise, and validate FPGA designs.
  • Collaborate with embedded software engineers on FPGA SoC platforms (e.g., Zynq).
  • Support hardware bring-up, debugging, and integration with custom electronics.
  • Produce design documentation, verification reports, and integration notes.
  • Contribute to both research projects and product-focused development teams.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Proven experience in
    FPGA design and development
    .
  • Proficiency in
    Verilog or VHDL
    with strong knowledge of Xilinx toolchains.
  • Experience with
    real-time data acquisition and DSP
    .
  • Familiarity with FPGA SoCs and integration with embedded Linux systems.
  • Ability to debug FPGA designs and validate them in lab and field environments.

Desirable but not essential:

  • Experience collaborating on mixed hardware/software development in R&D settings.
  • Background in aerospace, defence, medical devices, or other regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of system-level design for manufacturable and compliant products.
