As a Surface Treatment Technician, you'll play a vital role in the maintenance and finishing process of our equipment. 

Using your technical skills and attention to details, you'll prepare and apply surface coatings to defence and aerospace standards.   

This is a great opportunity for a skilled Surface Treatment Technician to join our team based in Orchard Hills- Sydney. You will work alongside highly skilled professionals in a collaborative and fast-paced environment that drives the success of Australia's defence capability.

About the role:

As a Surface Treatment Technician, you will:

  • Prepare and apply surface coating to components and equipment at   Defence and Aerospace standards.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure coating quality and surface finish meets the required specifications for Defence & Aerospace standards.
  • Inspect and adjust application equipment (e.g. angle, flow, speed etc) to achieve desired results.
  • Maintain coating equipment to ensure reliable and trouble free operation.
  • Maintain accurate process documentation, including equipment configurations, work order tracking and test logs.

What you'll Bring:

  • Relevant trade certificate and/or experience in surface treatment where precision is critical.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Proven experience applying surface coatings with unique or specialised properties.
  • Skilled in the use of basic hand tools and performing minor assembly tasks.
  • Experienced in the correct use of PPE specific to painting and coating.
  • Previous experience applying surface coatings in either a Defence or Aerospace environment (desirable).

Mandatory Requirements: 

  • Must be able to access information controlled under the US International Traffic of Arms Regulations (ITAR).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Australian security clearance.
