About The Role
As a Business Development Manager, your focus is to drive IPA's commercial growth by building strong client relationships, identifying market opportunities, and delivering value that supports our members' success. This role requires a proactive, strategic, and customer-first approach to business development.
This is a unique opportunity for pharmacists or professionals with industry exposure who'll bring industry insights and networks to a role where you can directly influence the success of independent pharmacies across Australia.
Role & Responsibilities
- Identify and research potential clients, industry sectors, and market trends. Leverage your knowledge of pharmacy operations and industry dynamics to generate high-quality leads through various channels, such as networking, cold calling, referrals, and online platforms.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients. Understand the specific needs, challenges, and business goals of pharmacies and related stakeholders to provide tailored solutions that strengthen long-term client satisfaction and loyalty.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop compelling business proposals and presentations. Customise offerings to align with pharmacy-specific requirements, demonstrating IPA's value in improving commercial outcomes and patient care.
- Conduct sales presentations, negotiate terms, and close deals with clients. Meet or exceed sales targets by converting leads into successful partnerships. Continuously manage your sales pipeline with accuracy and insight, forecasting revenue and tracking performance.
- Stay updated on industry trends and market dynamics. Use your knowledge of key players to identify opportunities for growth, positioning IPA as a trusted partner for independent pharmacies.
- Coordinate with marketing, customer, and other teams to ensure seamless execution of sales initiatives. Provide feedback from the field and share market intelligence to guide service improvements, refine offerings, and develop competitive pricing strategies
- Champion IPA's growth journey by being a visible, proactive, and influential advocate for the independent pharmacy sector.
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 3 years in a business development or customer-facing role in a complex environment
- 5+ years in pharmacy or pharmaceutical industry strongly preferred
- Strong commercial acumen and understanding of Community Pharmacy and PBS landscape
- Excellent relationship-building skills and advanced communication and persuasive presentation experience
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
- Collaborative team player who drives results and adapts to change
- Proactive, accountable, and committed to living the IPA purpose and values
- Valid Australian Driver Licence and ability to travel statewide and nationally as needed
- Tertiary qualifications in Business or Science (preferred but not essential)
