About The Role
We are looking for a
Category Specialist
to join our strong Procurement team in Newcastle. Reporting to a Category Manager you will support the execution of Whitehaven Coal's Procurement strategy and conduct tenders for goods and services at an exciting time for the company. We are looking for strong team players to join our tight knit friendly team culture. These roles are full time permanent positions.

What You'll Do

  • Category Management
  • Conducting contract negotiations
  • Negotiating supplier pricing
  • Reviewing spend levels
  • Reducing commercial risk for the company
  • Helping deliver sustainable procurement outcomes
  • Occasional travel to operating sites will be required

What You'll Bring
The successful applicant will possess:

  • Experience in Procurement, Category management or sourcing
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience leading tenders
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Above average computer skills, mainly excel, word and powerpoint
  • An understanding of mining, resources or construction industry is preferred but not essential
