Job Description
As part of the Corporate Counsel, you'll play a key role in supporting TAL's business by providing clear, practical legal advice. With a strong grasp of legal principles and an understanding of TAL's operations, you'll guide stakeholders on relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. You'll contribute both independently and as part of a collaborative team, working closely with senior lawyers on complex matters. Building strong relationships across the business and with external partners, you'll help ensure legal outcomes that support TAL's commitment to doing what's right by our people, partners, and customers.
In This Role You Will
- Oversee and manage litigation matters in collaboration with external legal partners.
- Manage external dispute resolution cases, including those lodged with AFCA and similar bodies.
- Provide timely legal advice and support to Claims, Underwriting, and other business units as needed.
- Deliver legal training to Claims and Underwriting teams to support informed decision-making.
- Advise Risk and Compliance teams on obligations under the Life Insurance Code of Practice.
- Support the Internal Dispute Resolution team with legal insight and guidance.
Qualifications
- Qualified legal professional with at least 3 years' post-admission experience
- Proven experience within the financial services sector
- Solid understanding of insurance law and regulatory frameworks
- Tertiary qualifications in law or a related discipline
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
