Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Visit Victoria Full time $90,000 - $120,000 per year

Love storytelling, events, and the thrill of seeing your work in the headlines? This is your chance to shape the compelling narratives that capture what makes Victoria an extraordinary place to visit.

Our vision is to harness the power of Victoria's visitor experience to inspire more travellers to choose to visit Victoria – and this role is central to that ambition.

Visit Victoria

Visit Victoria is the primary tourism and events company for the State of Victoria. We inspire people around the world to visit Melbourne and regional Victoria through creative storytelling and enriching events. Our role is to drive visitation and expenditure through destination marketing and a strong pipeline of major, regional and business events to support the visitor economy – creating, converting and connecting demand.

We aim to build Melbourne and Victoria into Australia's number one tourism destination by delivering strong and sustainable growth across priority markets.

About this Position

Hybrid working, Melbourne CBD based

We're looking for a Manager, Media & Communications who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, loves finding stories and shaping how the world sees Melbourne and regional Victoria.

In this pivotal role, you'll help manage Visit Victoria's public relations activities – developing and delivering imaginative and impactful public relations initiatives that promote our destination, marketing campaigns and events to inspire travellers, drive positive earned media coverage, and enhance Victoria's reputation as a must-visit destination.

You'll be at the heart of Victoria's storytelling, leading PR and media coverage that highlights the State's vibrant tourism industry, world-class events, and diverse cultural experiences. From iconic moments like the Australian Open and the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix to regional festivals and emerging wellness experiences, you'll help shape the narratives that position Victoria as a premier destination for visitors from around the globe.

You'll find, craft and share stories that celebrate Victoria's creativity, culture, people and places — stories that spark conversation, generate positive sentiment about the destination, and invite the world to experience everything Melbourne and regional Victoria have to offer.

About you

You're a natural storyteller — strategic, creative, and passionate about media and communications. You bring energy and initiative to every project, balancing a sharp news sense with an eye for innovation and impact.

• A strong grasp of the news cycle, an established network of media contacts and the ability to build trusted relationships across media, government and industry.

• A passion for generating fresh ideas and an instinct for identifying emerging trends and shaping them into original, well-timed pitches.

• Excellent writing and storytelling skills with a knack for crafting messages that cut through.

• The confidence to manage complex projects, respond to emerging issues and think on your feet to protect and enhance reputation.

• A collaborative spirit and a deep appreciation for what makes Victoria a world-class destination.

If you thrive on creativity, enjoy working with purpose, and love celebrating Melbourne and Victoria – this is the gig for you.
