About Us?

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region.

The Organisational Development Team's primary focus is to assist IUIH meet its strategic objective of an expanded and strengthened workforce through development, management and implementation of frameworks and programs to: increase Indigenous workforce participation and develop a workforce who provide leadership in health system reform and provision of a high quality, integrated system of health and social support services. The team build workforce pathways, create and nurture an innovative, inclusive, reflective and respectful environment built on Aboriginal Ways

About the Role?

As the Manager of University Partnerships and Student Innovation, you lead innovative strategies for student placements and strengthen partnerships with universities to support the development of a culturally responsive health workforce. You will drive new models of engagement, expand placement opportunities, lead and coordinate student projects and placements and contribute to curriculum development that aligns with IUIH's values and workforce priorities

Your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Develop and implement innovative models for student placements, including, interdisciplinary and community-based projects.
  • Identify and pursue strategic partnerships with universities to co-design placement programs.
  • Coordinate and oversee approaches to student supervision and mentoring that reflect Propa Ways and cultural integrity.
  • Collaborate with academic institutions to embed Indigenous perspectives and IUIH values into health curricula.
  • Maintain and grow university relationships to support workforce development objectives including the development of a culturally responsive health workforce and pathways for mob into university qualifications.
  • Coordination of project student placements across the IUIH Network including supervision of some projects/students
  • Manage and lead the IUIH Student Placements team to ensure a high-quality WIL experience for all involved.
  • Working with the Pathways Our Way team and the Careers Our way team to identify, develop and support pathways for mob into university.
  • Explore and trial innovative digital platforms and tools to streamline placement coordination and student engagement including alumni tracking.

About You?

  • Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD)
  • Current Criminal History Check
  • Current QLD Blue Card – Required prior to your commencement
  • Qualification in Health or other relevant discipline

Desirable, but not mandatory:

  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
