About the role

The
Ministerial Inquiry into the workplace culture the OCG was tabled in Parliament
on Wednesday 10 September 2025. Recommendation 13 relates to strengthening the
effectiveness of OCG's governance framework and arrangements. The Manager
Governance and Risk will play a key role in supporting the Guardian and
Executive Leadership Team to implement recommendations in the report.

Reporting
directly to the Children's Guardian and Aboriginal Deputy Guardian, the role will manage
the OCG's governance, risk and assurance functions and oversight outsourced
shared services arrangements. The role is also responsible for co-coordinating
business improvement, supporting improved case management and data management,
risk and performance improvement planning and change management projects. The role will work closely with the Executive Office team
and Corporate Services Directorate. 

We are seeking a motivated and resilient person to: 

  • Lead the review,
    development and implementation of OCG's governance and risk framework.
  • Develop and
    deliver high quality governance, compliance and risk management
    activities, organisational monitoring and reporting, and secretariat
    services.
  • Maintain and
    improve existing OCG wide corporate frameworks, controls, policies and
    processes, monitoring and reporting, including developing and managing
    reporting dashboards, in accordance with legislation, whole-of-government
    policy and business requirements.
  • Work with key
    internal stakeholders, the Audit and Risk Committee and external parties
    to deliver governance and compliance activities, including the internal
    audit program.
  • Working closely
    with the Director Corporate Services and Executive team, and external
    stakeholders to design and deliver an OCG wide integrated case management
    system.
  • Provide advice
    and direction to the Children's Guardian and Executive team on risk and
    governance matters, fostering a culture of collaboration and shared
    ownership.

Key knowledge and experience

  • Demonstrated experience in governance, risk management, compliance and business improvement.
  • Experience working with leadership teams to review and strengthen governance systems, ideally within a government setting.
  • Experience developing and monitoring reporting dashboards and proficiency in Power BI is desirable.
  • The ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with leadership, employees, and other stakeholders.

Essential Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in business administration, governance or a relevant discipline, and/or extensive relevant workplace experience.
  • All roles within the OCG are required to have a current NSW Working with Children Check.
  • Employment at the OCG is subject to the satisfactory completion of security and vetting checks.

    performance of Governance and Risk frameworks, including supporting staff
    to deliver the responsibilities of their roles, using the necessary
    practices, processes and systems.
