Shape the future of financial management in the ACT public sector
We're seeking a strategic and experienced financial leader to join the City and Environment Directorate as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This is a unique opportunity to drive financial strategy and operations in a dynamic public sector environment, supporting the delivery of sustainable and impactful community services across the ACT.
As CFO, you will provide expert financial advice to the Director-General and senior executives, ensuring that financial and operational activities align with CED's corporate objectives, legislative requirements, and government priorities. You will lead the Finance and Procurement & Business Operations branches, with overarching responsibility for budgeting, financial planning, reporting, compliance, asset management and procurement.
Your portfolio will also include facilities and fleet management, where you will drive efficiency and value for money outcomes across operational assets. You will play a key role in emergency management, ensuring CED is prepared and responsive during disruptions or crisis.
To succeed in this role, you will bring extensive experience in managing complex financial operations within large organisations. You'll have strong expertise in high-value procurement, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and a proven ability to lead teams and deliver results in dynamic environments. Integrity, discretion, and strategic thinking are essential.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field of study and membership in an appropriate professional body (e.g. CPA/CA) are essential.
Contract:
The successful applicant will be engaged under a performance-based long-term contract for a period of up to five years. Prospective applicants should be aware that long-term engagements are tabled in the ACT Legislative Assembly.
Remuneration:
The position attracts a remuneration package ranging from $376,285 - $389,635 depending on current superannuation arrangements of the successful applicant. This includes a cash component of $333,737.
