About the Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre

We are a client-centred organisation, supporting the community throughout Barwon, Wimmera, and the South West regions, offering a range of specialist support services to people impacted by sexual and family violence, encompassing 24 hour crisis care, specialist response services, early intervention programs, Victims Assistance Program, Community Legal Services, trauma recovery programs, professional training and primary prevention initiatives.

About The Role

The Family Violence Case Management Refuge provides onsite intensive support to women and children who are experiencing or have experienced family violence and living in refuge. Working as part of a dynamic team the Specialist Family Violence Case Manager Refuge has the primary responsibility to manage and deliver services for women and children who are experiencing family violence and living in refuge and crisis accommodation. The focus is ensuring the safe and secure exit of women and children into affordable accommodation. A strong understanding of the gendered and complex nature of family violence and evidence based risk factors is required to continuously asses a client's risk and safety, while also addressing other support needs identified with the client.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential Qualifications and Experience

Your application must address the following:

  • A relevant graduate or post graduate qualification in psychology, social work or other relevant discipline.
  • A minimum four years' relevant experience is desirable.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

  • A comprehensive understanding of the issues relating to family violence with a gendered feminist, structural, individual and family context.
  • Extensive experience in undertaking comprehensive risk assessments and risk management responses (safety planning) and crisis intervention and case management.
  • Sound knowledge of the effect and impact of interpersonal trauma on adults, young people, children and their non-offending families.
  • Experience working within an integrated, multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to advocate, liaise and practice collaboratively across complex systems.
  • Extensive experience applying theoretical frameworks to practice.
  • Ability to manage complex and demanding work.
  • Ability to practice independently with a high degree of autonomy and to participate as a member of a team.
  • Extensive experience maintaining accurate and confidential case notes.

Period of Appointment

This position is ongoing depending on funding.

Hours of work

The position is part time.

Salary and Conditions

Annual salary range is $102, $107,079.44 plus superannuation (pro rata for part time). Salary will be commensurate with experience and skills.

Industrial Instrument: The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre Enterprise Agreement 2023.

Salary Packaging: Provided via Maxxia. PBI status with other expenses available to package above this cap. The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre is a Public Benevolent Institution.

Superannuation: The employer will also make superannuation payments on your behalf in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee (Administration) Act 1992.

Probationary Period – 6 months with a review conducted during this time.
