Brisbane, Queensland, Australia Santos Full time $120,000 - $180,000 per year

Don't come for an easy career. Stay for a rewarding one.

At Santos, we do work that matters and always have. When you join us, so will you.

As an ASX 20 global energy company, we're committed to providing reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone.

To make it happen, we work as One Team and ask ourselves, "How can we?" (Even when others say, "We can't.")

We're proud of our history as pioneers, problem-solvers, and pragmatists. And as we strive to achieve our Vision2040, we've got our sights set on a culture that is focussed and disciplined to drive value, and entrepreneurial and energised to leave a positive legacy.

The difference isn't just thinking big – it's delivering on it too.

As part of the team, you'll tackle one of the most complex problems of our time. It's no easy task, but nothing rewarding ever is.

What you'll do:

Based in Brisbane, the Aviation Lead reports to the Manager Aviation EA & PNG, and oversees all aviation operations across Eastern Australia, delivering safe, compliant, and efficient fixed wing, rotary wing, and emergency response services.

This role requires expertise in risk management, operational delivery, team leadership, and stakeholder collaboration, all aligned with Santos' strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, assess, and manage aviation-related risks across Eastern Australian Aviation operations.
  • Coach, mentor, and support EA aviation teams to deliver safe and efficient operations.
  • Oversight of regional aviation activities including helicopter operations, aerodrome and Heli base management, fixed wing charter, and Regular Public Transport (RPT) services.
  • Establish and manage assurance activities and compliance programs.
  • Support development of governance structures that ensure operational accountability and safe systems of work.
  • Maintain effective engagement with internal stakeholders (e.g., HSE, Logistics, Projects) and external parties (e.g., contractors, regulators).
  • Support the Aviation Manager EA/PNG with:
  • Designing and optimising aviation solutions.
  • Developing aviation contracting and commercial strategies.
  • Drive service efficiency and performance excellence across all aviation service providers.
  • Participate in emergency response and SAR planning and execution.
  • Act as an aviation subject matter expert (SME) in major incident and emergency response scenarios.

What you'll bring:

We are seeking an experienced Aviation professional with demonstrated capability in aviation operations, including onshore and/or offshore support. Background in the oil and gas sector is highly regarded. The ability and flexibility to travel domestically and internationally, including remote locations is required, along with:

  • Experience in aviation emergency response and search & rescue (SAR) operations.
  • CASA key personnel experience under AOC/MRO frameworks.
  • Meets CASA requirements for key aviation personnel certification and conduct standards.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks, including NAA regulations (Civil Aviation Orders and Manual of Standards), IOGP aviation and HSE standards, and IATA/ICAO safety and quality frameworks.
  • Proficient in aviation hazard and risk assessment, safety management systems (SMS), incident investigation and root cause analysis, as well as operational auditing and assurance systems.

The following would be highly regarded:

  • Proven track record managing aviation operations in remote or complex environments.
  • Proven ability in fixed wing charter and multi-modal logistics planning.
  • Proven knowledge of RPAS integration within aviation operations.
  • Relevant degree or diploma in aviation, engineering, safety, or a related discipline.
  • Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME) or Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL).
  • Certified or trained safety/aviation auditor (e.g. ISO 9001) or investigator (e.g., ICAM, NTSB).

What you'll get:

Here, you'll be amongst high-calibre people and get to work on industry-leading projects. We don't shy away from solving tough problems at pace. We like it that way. You can expect to be challenged and supported; to learn and grow.

At Santos, we're committed to creating a workplace where everyone can thrive. This means a place that is safe; where you are valued and respected, and your contribution is recognised and appreciated. Join us, and you'll play a role in this too.

Each of our sites offer access to specific amenities that aim to create the best possible benefits to your health, wellbeing and performance. In Brisbane this includes Onsite Gym facilities, Onsite GP services and many more employee benefits.

What you're part of:

Everywhere you turn you will be a part of a team who are coming together to contribute to our single uniting purpose - to provide reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone

And because it's not only what you do, but how you do it, you will also contribute to improving the living standards of the communities where we operate, building enduring and respectful relationships that serve a generation. It's about each of us, and all of us – together.

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted via the online recruitment system before COB 28th October 2025.

A requirement of this role is that you will need to have in place the legal work rights for Australia to apply.
