Where you'll be working

We are seeking a motivated Occupational Therapist to join our Cessnock/Kurri Occupational Therapy team, working in the sole community OT role within a dedicated and collaborative multidisciplinary team. This position can be based at either the Cessnock or Kurri site—or a combination of both—to best suit your working preferences.

What you'll be doing

In this role, you will complete home visits to clients across the Cessnock and Kurri local government areas, providing client-centred care through functional assessments, equipment prescription, and referrals for home modifications. The role requires strong community OT experience and a solid understanding of relevant external stakeholders including My Aged Care, EnableNSW, GEAT2GO, and home modification providers.

You will be supported on-site by the Site Senior Occupational Therapist and remain connected to the wider OT team, which includes inpatient, paediatric, and adult outpatient therapists. While this is a sole community OT position, you'll never feel isolated. Orientation will be provided based on your needs, and ongoing education and professional development are strongly encouraged, with access to both internal and external CPD opportunities.

About you

The successful applicant will demonstrate high-level verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to adapt their communication style effectively to suit diverse audiences. They will have a proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, particularly in managing complex and challenging situations. Experience in leading the planning and evaluation of team activities is essential, along with the capability to provide supervision, support, and guidance to students and less experienced staff members.
