We are seeking a motivated Junior Lawyer to join our Property Law team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop expertise across residential and commercial property work such as conveyancing, leasing transactions, and electronic settlement processes.
About the Role
Conveyancing
- Conduct residential and commercial property sales and purchases from instructions through to settlement
- Review and prepare contracts for sale, including property searches of land titles, council records, and other relevant registers
- Project conveyancing work for developers including issuing off the plan contracts
- Competent to liaise with other solicitors, real estate agents, financial institutions.
Leasing
- Draft and review commercial and retail lease agreements
- Advise landlords and tenants on lease terms, rent reviews, and renewal options
- Prepare disclosure statements under Retail Leases legislation
- Handle lease assignments, subleases, and variations
- Conduct lease registrations and dealings
PEXA & Settlement
- Manage electronic conveyancing transactions through the PEXA platform
- Create and manage PEXA workspaces for property settlements
- Coordinate with financial institutions for electronic lodgement of mortgages
- Prepare settlement adjustment statements and trust account reconciliations
General
- Maintain accurate file management
- Communicate clearly with property team members, providing regular updates on matter progress
- Stay current with legislative changes affecting property law in NSW
About You
- Admission or eligibility for admission as a legal practitioner in NSW
- 1-2 years PAE in Property Law (or strong interest if recently admitted)
- Demonstrated experience or competency with PEXA platform (not essential but preferred)
- Good understanding of NSW conveyancing practices and procedures (not essential but preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with practice management software including sound knowledge with managing AI tools, excellent Microsoft Office, Excel skills
