Senior Finance & Reporting Analyst

Salary - $129,464.00 pa - $142,665.00 pa, plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading
Your role
This role is responsible for developing, managing, and coordinating a range of regular reporting products that provide the Department with up-to-date insights into financial performance, service delivery outcomes, and key operational indicators.
The position also plays a strategic role in supporting the Department's continuous improvement initiatives by providing evidence-based advice to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency. This includes undertaking cost and revenue analysis, identifying opportunities for optimisation, and contributing to the preparation of Treasury budget proposals and submissions.
What you'll do
As a Senior Finance & Reporting Analyst, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality financial and performance reporting to inform decision-making and ensure government reporting obligations are met. You will contribute to the Department's strategic and operational goals through expert analysis, collaboration, and continuous improvement initiatives.
In this role, you will:
- Lead, coordinate and support all aspects of financial and performance reporting across a range of projects, initiatives and functions to ensure compliance with government requirements and achievement of departmental outcomes.
- Contribute to the preparation of key publications, including the DCJ Annual Report, State Budget Papers, Quarterly Financial Performance Reports, and Budget Estimate Notes.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships across the Communities and Justice portfolio, other government departments, and central agencies to achieve shared objectives and deliverables.
- Undertake complex financial analysis, evaluation and modelling to strengthen financial resilience and sustainability across DCJ.
- Support the annual planning and budgeting process, providing insights and advice to inform sound financial management and resource allocation.
- Assist in the management of projects and resources, ensuring adherence to governance, quality and reporting standards while meeting all project milestones and deliverables.
- Conduct research and analysis, developing evidence-based recommendations to inform planning, policy and strategic decision-making.

What we're looking for
In addition to the Key knowledge and experience required and listed in the role description, the ideal candidate will be a proactive and analytical professional with strong financial acumen, attention to detail, and a passion for delivering meaningful insights that drive performance and value. You excel in collaborative environments and can communicate complex information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in public sector financial reporting, budget processes and outcomes budgeting. A strong understanding of project management is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake financial analysis and communicate complex financial and policy analysis clearly and succinctly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong ability to engage on financial and policy matters and to suggest and manage improvements in established processes.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team with good interpersonal skills.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as finance, accounting, commerce or economics or equivalent experience.
