ABOUT THE ROLE

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will lead all financial operations of the company, ensuring the effective management of accounting, payroll, cash flow, compliance, and financial strategy. As housekeeping and commercial cleaning are labour-intensive and contract-driven industries, the CFO will play a critical role in managing labour costs, award compliance, and contract profitability.

The CFO will work closely with the CEO and senior management team to ensure strong financial governance, support business growth through accurate pricing and tender analysis, and safeguard the company's long-term sustainability.

GENERAL DUTIES

1.     Financial Leadership & Strategy

  • Oversee the company's financial operations including accounting, payroll, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management.
  • Prepare financial reports, including budget vs annual performance and variance reporting.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies that support operational and commercial goals.
  • Partner with the CEO and executive team to drive sustainable growth and profitability.

2.     Labour Cost & Payroll Management

  • Ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing for a large, casual-heavy workforce.
  • Monitor compliance with Fair Work, Modern Awards (hospitality and cleaning), and enterprise agreements.
  • Analyse and control labour costs, overtime, penalty rates, and leave liabilities.

3.     Contract & Commercial Oversight

  • Track financial performance of client contracts, including cost per occupied room (CPOR), cleaning hours per room, and contract margins.
  • Support sales and operations teams with pricing models, tenders, and contract renewals.
  • Identify areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements across sites.

4.     Compliance, Risk & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with tax reporting, superannuation, insurance, audit, and statutory reporting obligations.
  • Oversee risk management including public liability, workers' compensation, and industry licensing requirements.
  • Maintain strong governance processes to protect company assets and reputation.

5.     Cash Flow & Partner Management

  • Manage the company's cash flow, working capital, and financial planning.
  • Build and maintain relationships with banks, auditors, insurers, regulators, and key stakeholders.
  • Monitor industry trends and client payment behaviours to proactively manage financial risks.

6.     Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop the finance and accounting team by setting goals, providing training, and monitoring performance.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and compliance.
