We are looking for a highly skilled GIS professional who is also looking for real impact in their work. The Senior GIS Officer position is a full-time role, required to assist in the management, and growth and maintenance of CO2's geospatial data and to provide GIS support across the organisation. This involves supporting CO2 department heads by responding to technical queries and other requests for spatial outputs with a focus on biodiversity projects. In addition, the role will be actively involved in engaging with clients and potential clients to identify and deliver GIS enhancements that add value to their projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Spatial data management (collecting data, ensuring accuracy/quality, organising and storing) across CO2's biodiversity and carbon projects.
  • Develop and lead implementation of GIS standards, policies and procedures that adhere to industry best practices.
  • Provide high level support to technical queries and other requests for spatial outputs with respect to biodiversity or carbon projects.
  • Utilises GIS analysis tools to solve spatial problems
  • Troubleshoots and resolves GIS data issues and processes.
  • Stay on top of market developments in GIS and spatial data assets and tools
  • Work closely with the biodiversity team to ensure GIS applications are implemented and compliant with client/contractual requirements
  • Work with leaders across the business to identify new revenue-generating service opportunities for the GIS team for existing and new clients.

Experience required

  • A Diploma or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Geography, Geomatics, Geographic Information Systems, Environmental Science, or a related discipline).
  • Minimum 5 years' working experience with GIS principles, concepts, and tools is essential. This includes proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS Pro, AGOL and ESRI Field Apps including Field Maps and Survey123.
  • Familiarity with spatial databases, data management, and geoprocessing techniques.
  • High level of attention to detail/accuracy; Intuitive; problem-solving and critical thinking.
  • Professional communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to collaborate effectively across the organisation.
