Trinity Grammar School seeks a full-time Psychologist/Counsellor to join our Counselling Services team.

The Counselling Services team of Trinity Grammar School work in partnership in the provision of counselling related services, psychological assessment and administrative functions to the School community with a focus on student welfare and wellbeing. Our goal is to identify, support, encourage and monitor the development of positive social and emotional health of students to enrich their personal and School experiences through the provision of high-quality psychological services within a diverse School community. We work collaboratively with key stakeholders to support and empower our school community to be informed, considerate and ethical community contributors.

Working closely with the Head of the Counselling and our School Executive, this role is responsible for the provision of psychological services and counselling support to our secondary aged students. The School Psychologist/Counselling role is integral in the development and implementation of programs and policies that aim to foster positive social and emotional wellbeing in students, as well as the provision of psychological support in response to varying student needs. The successful applicant will also be required to regularly consult to teaching staff regarding ongoing student wellbeing concerns.

Available from 2026, the successful candidate will provide evidence-based interventions for students in collaboration with other staff, relevant professionals, and parents/family members. The role requires the School Psychologist/Counsellor is to provide psychological testing and assessment, counselling support that may include trauma focused therapy and critical incident management, consultancy with other health professionals and to other staff - while working in accordance with School policies and procedures and relevant legislation.

This role will suit an individual who is looking to expand their experience supporting school-aged boys and families. Ideally we are looking for full-time, however as Trinity Grammar is accredited as 'Family Friendly', a more flexible part-time arrangement may be considered for the right candidate. The days will be negotiated (between 4-5 days per week).

Reporting to the Director of Counselling Services, the successful candidate will require the following;

Essential Skills, Experience and Criteria:

  • Registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia
  • Proven track record of working both collaboratively and independently within a team setting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a well-developed sense of humour
  • Strong organisational skills and an ability to meet expected deadlines, while appropriately and effectively prioritising multiple often competing tasks
  • Previous counselling experience working with children and adolescent (school age) student setting
  • Experience in psychological assessment of school-aged children and adolescents
  • Experience in crisis management and Child Protection
  • Sound understanding of the Child Safe Standards and other mandatory reporting requirements as they apply to NSW Schools, and a strong commitment to providing a child safe environment
  • A current working with children check
