The Manager, Specialist Inspections manages a highly experienced team of field-based multidisciplinary building and plumbing inspectors who are focused on complex and specialised priority cases. The focus of the role is to lead and develop a team of technical specialists who undertake field-based activities to support of the BPC's regulatory requirements and engage with practitioners to improve industry and enforce regulatory compliance.

What we are looking for

  • Demonstrated extensive experience in conducting site inspections and audits in a regulatory environment including on Class 2 apartment buildings.
  • Proven experience in the management of field-based or technical services teams within a building or plumbing regulatory environment
  • Extensive experience of the building and plumbing industry and an advanced knowledge of the Building and Plumbing Regulations 2018, regulatory frameworks, codes, regulation standards and Government Policy in Victoria and other Australian jurisdictions.

About the BPC

The Building & Plumbing Commission (BPC) is Victoria's new regulator for building and plumbing.

It brings together the Victorian Building Authority (VBA), Domestic Building Dispute Resolution Victoria (DBDRV), and the domestic building insurance function of the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority (VMIA) into one organisation.

Key functions related to building and plumbing regulation will come together under one roof, including registration, inspection and compliance, practitioner discipline, dispute resolution, and domestic building insurance. These services will now part of the BPC and will be fully integrated over the next 12 months.
