Di Candilo Steel City is a privately-owned company specialising in steel supplies and steel processing. Our purpose built facilities house the latest machine cutting technology including laser, HD plasma and profile.

With a strong workforce of over fifty employees, we supply a broad range of steel products to a variety of industries. A vast majority of these steel supplies are used in Mining, Fabrication, Manufacturing, Construction, Agricultural and other support industries. We are also one of the few steel suppliers in Perth who service the retail market for the tradesman, small fabricator or do-it-yourself weekend warrior.

We are currently looking for an entry-level CAD/CNC PROGRAMMER to join our team on a full-time basis (7.30am – 5.00pm Monday to Friday).

You will be responsible for CAD drawing and CNC programming.

About the role:

  • Understand and interpret client enquiries from drawings and written specifications
  • Construct 2D drawings and interpret 3D drawings/models
  • Develop and understand CNC machining processes and how they relate to programming
  • Problem solve with Operators and assist the Sales team with material quoting
  • Program jobs (with accuracy and timeliness) using various software applications (AutoCAD, ProNest, Trutops, FastCAM, Lantek & PLM)
  • Liaise with Operators to ensure strong communication and teamwork
  • Working in a great team
  • Penalty rates for hours over 7.6 each day

About the candidate:

  • Some experience in Drafting in a Manufacturing/Fabrication environment or a recent Engineering Graduate capable of reading drawings and keen to utilize their theoretical skills will be highly regarded
  • Working knowledge/experience as a CNC Programmer/Laser Operator highly desirable
  • A keen desire to work in the Steel industry for a strong company offering career prospects
  • A quick learner, able to work in a team and unsupervised
  • Good organizational and problem solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Sound computer skills and familiar with MS Office
