Senior Compliance Analyst
Work Arrangement: This is a two-year maximum fixed term contract and a hybrid flexible working role based out of our Melbourne CBD offices.
Salary: A competitive salary package of $150,000 - $160,000 KPA plus super is on offer.
About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Senior Compliance Analyst to step up into a Compliance Lead role. We're searching for a proactive and experienced professional to help our Consumer business navigate a complex and evolving regulatory landscape. In this pivotal position, you'll manage the entire lifecycle of regulatory changes, gaining invaluable leadership experience.
It is essential that you have a strong background in the energy sector, as you will be responsible for translating new developments in the energy and telecommunications sectors into clear, actionable, and compliant business solutions.
This position is ideal for a strategic thinker who can align business objectives with regulatory requirements. You'll work cross-functionally to drive the implementation of changes and foster a strong culture of compliance across the organization.
This is a fantastic chance to make a significant impact and help shape our future in a compliant and strategic manner.
What You'll Be Doing
- Strategic Analysis & Monitoring: Stay informed about new legislation, government policies, and industry trends, with a specific focus on the energy and telecommunications sectors. You'll provide early insights to influence internal planning and ensure business strategy aligns with advocacy positions.
- Impact Assessment & Translation: Conduct end-to-end assessments of regulatory impacts, including risks, opportunities, and required changes to processes or systems. You will translate these obligations into clear, operational guidance for various business units.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the business at external industry forums and working groups. You will build and maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies and industry associations while collaborating with internal teams (e.g., Legal, Risk, IT) to ensure a shared understanding and buy-in on compliance initiatives.
- Change Management & Delivery: Partner with technology and project teams to embed compliance into system design. You will lead or support the implementation of changes, including communication, training, and ongoing monitoring to ensure successful adoption.
- Governance & Continuous Improvement: Champion awareness of regulatory responsibilities and contribute to the continuous improvement of our regulatory change roadmap and governance framework.
What You'll Bring
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in regulatory change, compliance, legal, or risk. Your experience must be within the energy industry.
- Regulatory Knowledge: A deep understanding of Australian energy regulations and key regulatory bodies (e.g., AER, ESC, and ACCC).
- Leadership Skills: Proven experience leading change in complex, multi-stakeholder environments. You must have the ability to influence business leaders and manage competing priorities effectively.
- Analytical & Communication Skills: Exceptional analytical skills to assess regulatory impacts and prioritize actions. You should be an outstanding communicator, with the confidence to present high-quality reports and presentations to senior executives.
- Frameworks & Processes: Familiarity with compliance frameworks, risk management processes, and control design.
Please submit an application through this advert or contact Joseph Demetriou for a confidential discussion about the role.
