Your Team:

You will be part of a multi-disciplinary technology team, and work closely with our customers (business, software vendors and partners). Within the team, you will be responsible for operations engineering and will participate in all aspects from design to testing and implementation.

Your Role:

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will have primary responsibility for operations engineering to deliver ongoing operational and business initiative outcomes. You will be providing technical support to your team and other IT product teams to deliver services and changes across Hollard's IT ecosystem, which includes third-party cloud hosted IT platforms, in-house managed cloud, and local data centre IT platforms.

The key focus areas of this role are:

  • Be hands-on with the tools and collaborate with multiple product squads to deliver the team's outcomes, covering the following
  • Responsible for planning and driving technical changes of IT Infrastructure and network services in alignment to business and technology outcomes, including related security changes
  • To manage and support all Windows servers including the Operating System
  • To recover Windows servers in the event of failure
  • To collate and maintain full server inventory
  • To review and agree BAU acceptance of change records on Server Management supported environments
  • Promote adherence to engineering standards and best practices
  • Promote timely feedback to staff and drive continuous improvement, automation, and focus on value delivery

Your knowledge & experience

  • Must have extensive experience in technical implementation experience with relevant focus in IT infrastructure/ network and cloud technologies.
  • Ensure availability and performance of Windows instance / VMware hypervisor can fully support the applications
  • Proactively monitor the Windows systems / VMware hypervisor to ensure services are up and running
  • Assist in capacity planning, ensure high resiliency and optimal performance involving the associated hardware resources allocated to the operating system.
  • Assist in the deployment of all patches, critical updates and service packs on a timely basis in all non-production and production servers.

Your Skills

  • Substantial experience across Windows server administration, Windows Active Directory administration and Network engineering such as routing, firewalls, NSGs and VLANs is required.
  • Hands-on experience in writing scripts to automate tasks for VMware/Windows is required.
  • Excellent skills in system engineering within a large IT operations environment, preferably in financial services.
  • Must have strong exposure to continuous delivery planning, estimation, work breakdown and prioritisation.
