About the role
:

Australia's fleet relies on advanced combat systems to stay mission-ready. As a Senior Systems Engineer with Lockheed Martin Australia, you'll be at the forefront of upgrading and modernising the Hobart Class Combat System — ensuring our Navy remains one step ahead.

Based at Garden Island, you'll join a collaborative Combat System Engineering team working on programs that directly impact Australia's defence strategy.

What you'll do

  • Partner with the Royal Australian Navy to guide and deliver combat system upgrades.
  • Lead and support engineering change activities that improve system performance and reliability.
  • Translate complex requirements into practical, forward-looking design solutions.
  • Collaborate with global experts and Defence partners to tackle high-impact technical challenges.
  • Play a key role in test, integration, and operational validation of combat system updates.

What you'll bring

  • A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Aerospace, or related engineering.
  • Experience across the systems engineering lifecycle (requirements, design, test, integration).
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills — able to connect technical detail with strategic outcomes.
  • Knowledge of modern systems engineering practices (MBSE, Agile).
  • Experience with naval, combat, or complex military systems is highly regarded.
  • An Australian NV-1 security clearance and ability to access/handle Export Controlled technology, data and information.
