We are seeking a practical and self-motivated Maintenance/Handy Person to carry out general repairs and maintenance across various commercial sites, including retail outlets, aged care residences, and healthcare facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all maintenance tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and with minimal disruption to staff, residents, and visitors.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform general maintenance, repairs, and minor installations across commercial premises.

  • Tasks may include:

  • Patching and painting

  • Minor carpentry, tiling, or plaster repairs
  • Door, lock, and hardware adjustments
  • Replacing light fittings, tap washers, and other fixtures
  • Basic plumbing and electrical troubleshooting (non-licensed tasks only)
  • Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner, prioritising urgent tasks.
  • Assisting carpenters on project work.
  • Conduct routine inspections and identify areas requiring attention.
  • Maintain cleanliness, safety, and functionality of work areas.
  • Liaise with contractors and external service providers as required.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with site procedures, especially in sensitive environments like aged care and health settings.
  • Record completed tasks and report issues beyond the scope of basic maintenance.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in a maintenance or handyperson role, ideally within commercial, healthcare, or aged care settings.
  • Strong general repair skills across multiple trades (e.g. carpentry, painting, basic plumbing/electrical).
  • Ability to identify issues, assess repair options, and work autonomously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a respectful and professional approach in customer-facing environments.
  • Current driver's license.
  • White Card (Construction Induction).

Desirable:

  • Relevant trade background or qualifications (preferred but not essential).
  • Basic computer or tablet literacy for project apps or site documentation.
