About Us

The Little Company of Mary Sisters (LCM) is an international congregation of Religious Sisters. We are women called from all walks of life who have freely chosen to live within community. Prayer and a personal commitment to Jesus is an integral part of our life. We are bounded by prayer, a simple lifestyle and a vowed commitment to the vision of our Foundress, Venerable Mary Potter, and the mission of the church.

Our mission is expressed through the ministries of individual Sisters and the apostolic works of the congregation. These ministries and works include prayer and care for those who are sick and dying.

We are currently small groups of LCM women living in various locations in Australia (34 Sisters), New Zealand (2 Sisters) and Tonga (4 Sisters) which is known as the Region of the Southern Cross. We will be transitioning from a Region of the Southern Cross to the Community of the Southern Cross next year (September) when there will no longer be a Region Leadership team in place. We are seeking a Community Coordinator to commence in February 2026 to support and fulfil the Community Coordination role for the Community of the Southern Cross, across Australia, New Zealand and Tonga.

About the Role

As part of a multi-disciplinary team including health, wellbeing, pastoral, and support staff across Australia, Aotearoa-New Zealand, and Tonga, you will help ensure each Sister receives holistic, stage-appropriate care. This involves coordinating local support teams and ensuring they have the necessary resources, providing spiritual and sacramental support—especially during vulnerable times or end-of-life—and assisting/supporting  Sisters with important personal decisions.

Utilising your strong interpersonal and communication skills, you will foster and maintain positive relationships with each Sister, offer companionship, advocate for her interests, support her in maintaining connections with friends, family, and other Sisters in the community, and help develop her preferences regarding spiritual life, activities, recreation and lifelong learning.

Ensuring confidentiality and discretion, you will assist in maintaining each Sister's personal file so that the Sisters' funeral wishes and legal representatives, including enduring power of attorney and guardianship, are documented and up to date.

This role is a permanent, full-time role located in Sydney or Melbourne, depending on the preference of the successful candidate. There will be an opportunity to work remotely when not undertaking direct contact work with the Sisters.

Occasional travel within Australia and to New Zealand and Tonga will be required, as will flexibility to collaborate across multiple time zones and to attend to occasional after-hours emergencies.

About You

You will be a compassionate and empathetic person with a genuine interest in each Sister's situation. You will have respect for the spiritual and different cultural needs of the Sisters and a readiness to work within the framework of a Catholic organisation.

Specifically, as the ideal candidate for this role, you will meet the following Key Requirements:

• Relevant qualifications such as social work, pastoral care, and/or health-related; and relevant experience in areas such as aged care, community care, social services, pastoral care or similar would be highly regarded
• Previous experience in a senior role and in coordinating a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and active listening skills and demonstrated ability to create respectful, professional relationships with the Sisters and to advocate on their behalf, whilst maintaining confidentiality and privacy
• Understanding of the issues facing the Sisters in the ageing process and capacity to support and understand a culturally diverse group
• Excellent organisational and time management skills and experience in coordinating the administrative aspects of meetings and events/celebrations
• Familiarity with legal and administrative requirements related to aged care, power of attorney and guardianship
• Computer literacy
• Current drivers' licence and access to a fully maintained and insured motor vehicle.

Additional Requirements
