Townsville, Queensland, Australia Medibank Full time $80,000 - $120,000 per year

Job description:

You're only human.

It's a strange thing to say, because us humans are capable of incredible things. And at Medibank, we know our greatest potential lies in the people who work with us.

We strive to make real, fundamental change, driven by a simple purpose: to create the best health and wellbeing for all of Australia.

About the Community Team

At Medibank, we're dedicated to our purpose, "Better Health for Better Lives" for both our people and our customers. Geographically based, cross-functional teams have been created because we believe that living and servicing customers locally enhances connection and trust. Conversations are richer, support is more personalised, and it increases Medibank's ability to fully immerse in local communities right across Australia. This results in longer and more sustainable relationships with our customers, and in turn, more fulfilling work for our people.

By delivering a more tailored, personalised experience, our aim is to make a real difference to the health of our customers and community. Join our local teams and make an impact

About the Role

As a Business Development Specialist, internally referred to as a Local Community Growth Specialist, you play a pivotal role in bringing Medibank products and services to your local community. This Full-Time role will be based at our Townsville store and requires travel to locations across Far North Queensland for on-site events. Occasional weekend work may be required during busy periods.

As a leader within your community team, you will role-model accountability and responsibility when supporting your customers end-to-end with outstanding service. You will need to thrive and connect within your local community whilst managing a pipeline of activity, developing external leads, and fostering partner relationships to be the best they can possibly be

You will achieve this by immersing yourself into the local community to understand their health needs and ensure that you are implementing health promotion programs that meet the needs of the community. You seek and develop rich partnerships at a local level through corporate partners, migration agents and education institutions, Members Choice Providers, and regional health programs. You plan and execute a continuous pipeline of self-generated growth initiatives aimed at immersing Medibank "in" the community.  Other activities that you will be required to do from time to time may include attending local events, shopping centres, kiosks, corporate on-sites, and expos, or servicing customers in-store or via phone/messaging.

You will provide insights to key internal stakeholders in relation to community needs and any gaps in our current promotions, products, or services.

Through ideation and experimentation coupled with a supportive teamwork and a strong weekly cadence, you demonstrate leadership by encouraging your team to problem solve at a local level. As the gateway to local insights, you pioneer ideation and problem solving toward better ways of working, or ways to improve customer experience.

About you

  • You not only thrive on providing great service to the local community but are motivated to help your team achieve this too. Growing and keeping your customer base is critically important to you. Planning and conducting external activity and rich community engagement is part of your personal 'DNA'.

  • You have a strong growth mind set and focus on business development and empowering your team and local community.

  • You are always meticulous about interaction accuracy and the protection of your customers' privacy.

  • Your formidable team spirit makes you a leader amongst your team Your knowledge and understanding of how to develop business leads into tangible products and services for our customers sets you apart from the rest.

Why You'll Love It Here
