A very busy venue with a food focus, newly rennovated Gastro pub looking for a senior chef.

We are located in the heart of South Melbourne business and apartment precinct. Famous for always being busy and full of atmosphere. Work in a professional, friendly, and fun environment with an energetic professional team with potential to move forward.

Chef Full Time

Main Duties include:

  • Report to Head Chef and work closely on running a smooth service within a professional kitchen
  • Working the "Pan" and "Larder " sections
  • Prepare and ensure all menu is presented for service in a quality and timely manner
  • Undertake preparation and cooking, baking, pastry cooking or butchering duties as required.
  • Ensure food preparation is undertaken in accordance with food safety plan and food safety and Occupational Health and Safety ('OHS') regulatory requirements
  • Ensure food storage is in accordance with food safety plan and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide and support the whole kitchen brigade during lunch and dinner service
  • Monitor supplies in accordance with volume/ menu requirements and advise Head Chef of requirements as necessary
  • Training of junior kitchen staff on dish specification and how to achieve food margins in line with company requirements
  • Manage the day-to-day food administration ensuring systems compliance
  • Contribute to the food cost initiative of the restaurant

Applicants should have the following:

  • Holds a Certificate IV in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) or equivalent.
  • At least 3-4 years of experience in similar environment
  • Great communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and develop in all areas of the kitchen
  • Ability to work as team member with great customer service skills
  • Proven experience in a busy fast paced kitchen
  • Experience running a busy section
