Rosebery is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in Tasmania, Australia. The mine is a deep, sub-level open stoping operation with complex mining conditions.
The Rosebery Mine has been at the heart of the Rosebery community since 1936 and is one of Tasmania's largest and oldest continuously operating, underground mines producing zinc, copper and lead concentrates, as well as gold doré.
It supports approximately 500 employees and their families, has a strong community focus and engages a wide range of local businesses from across Tasmania in its supply chain boosting the economy of the West Coast of Tasmania and beyond.
The mine has a strong future, with extensive exploration activities which have continued to grow the resource and require mine planning beyond 10 years of continued operation.
MMG Rosebery has an office in Burnie (Tasmania), giving employees the flexibility to work from there when they are not required onsite.
Occupational Health Nurse - 12 month maternity leave cover with possible extension
Reporting to the Senior Coordinator - Occupational Health this role will see you manage health and hygiene services to the Rosebery site.
It is responsible for providing Registered Nurse care and assistance in relation to the assessment of occupational health screening and ongoing monitoring requirements for site employees as per internal and external compliance requirements.
This position is offered on a maximum term contract, 7:7 roster, DIDO or Residential to Rosebery, Tasmania
Responsibilities Include (however not limited to):
- Initial high-level assessment and treatment of both work related and non-work related medical presentations
- Accurate and timely reporting, documentation and administration
- Efficient and effective procedure development, tools and templates
- Fitness for Work testing
- Workplace rehabilitation and injury management, ensuring injuries are managed in a manner which is consistent with MMG requirements
- Coordinate return to work activities including planning, implementation and review of return to work programs
- Support site Lead risk management process, Occupational Hygiene Monitoring and Health Surveillance Plans
- Advise employees who undergo health monitoring of the results/outcomes in a timely fashion
- Maintain high levels of confidentiality and record management
- Maintenance of medical service equipment and the medical facilities to a high standard
- Maintaining stores and administering drugs in compliance with the statutory requirements
- Professional communication with external Medical Practitioners and Allied Health providers
- Contribute proactively the delivery and effectiveness of the safety, health, emergency and security function on site.
About You
- Registered Nurse qualifications with current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
- Post Graduate Qualifications in Occupational Hygiene
- Competency in Alcohol and Drug testing to relevant Australian Standards (Desirable)
- Qualifications in Advanced Life Support (Desirable)
- Minimum of 2 years post registration nursing experience in an Emergency Department, Ward or in a similar role
- Intermediate nursing, medical and occupational hygiene knowledge
- Acute medical assessment skills and knowledge
- Knowledge and experience of injury management processes
- Knowledge and experience in the development and delivery of respiratory protection and noise conservation programs
- Skills in advanced life support, cannulation and venepuncture (essential)
- High level of knowledge in the use of audiometry, Porta Count and spirometry equipment (essential)
- Able to deliver toolbox talks on health and hygiene subjects
- Exceptional communication skills with all levels of the organisation
- An unwavering commitment to safe work practices with demonstrate safe behaviour at all times and comply with the site's standards and procedures.
- A willingness to work collaboratively as a team and support the Company Values
- A manual C Class driver's license
- Ability to pass a Police Clearance, Pre employment Medical and DAS.
