This role is an Australia-based, fully work-from-home position, with access to co-working spaces in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
Job DescriptionWe're looking for an Engineering Manager to join our Engineering leadership team and help shape the future of our software development function. This role is all about leading people, guiding technical direction, and building an environment where engineers thrive.
As an EM, you'll lead a team of talented Software Development Engineers, making sure their work aligns with our organisational goals and delivers real value. You'll balance hands-on technical guidance with big-picture strategy, all while fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture.
What you'll do
- Lead a team of Software Engineers through design, development, testing, release, and maintenance of products.
- Coach, mentor, and support team members through regular 1:1s, career development, and performance reviews.
- Foster a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and continuous learning.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align efforts and deliver high-quality, secure, and impactful software.
- Provide technical direction and support.
- Drive continuous improvement in processes, team efficiency, and product quality.
- Support secure development practices, ensuring compliance and safeguarding sensitive data.
- Represent the team in broader strategic planning and cross-functional initiatives.
What you bring
- 5+ years in software development, with at least 2+ years in leadership or management.
- Strong technical background — you've built and shipped software, ideally with experience in:
- Frontend: React, Vite, Storybook
- Backend: , GraphQL, MySQL
- Languages: TypeScript/JavaScript
- Experience with Agile delivery and tools like Jira or Trello.
- A proven track record of building high-performing teams and delivering successful outcomes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills — you can explain technical concepts in business terms.
- A collaborative, people-first leadership style that invests in growth, mentorship, and building trust.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a commercial mindset — balancing risk, cost, and value.
