Greater Sydney Area, Australia Airtasker Full time $180,000 - $200,000 per year

Hey there Thanks for stopping by. We're Airtasker, the tech company that connects people who need to get things done with those who have the skills to do it.

Our mission is to empower people to realise the full value of their skills. This doesn't just apply to those who use our product. It's also for our whooooooole team of go-getters who bring the product to life and deliver impact to our community on a daily basis. Because we believe work (and life) is always better when you truly know and appreciate your strengths and skills.

We're looking for a
Senior Product Manager
to join our team and help shape the future of our marketplace experience. This isn't your typical product environment because our product
is
as much the marketplace as it is the software experience, and that comes with unique dynamics, tradeoffs, and constraints. You don't need to be a marketplace expert, but you should have a strong product mindset and a curiosity to engage with the mechanics that make marketplaces tick.

You'll play a critical role in shaping the future of our marketplace, driving high-impact bets, and working across the company to deliver experiences that are cohesive, commercially sound, and deeply grounded in user reality.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the end-to-end product development for critical marketplace initiatives, from zero-to-one bets to optimising existing mechanics.
  • Validate ideas quickly and cost-effectively by using lean, manual, and scrappy methods when needed to get early signal.
  • Develop a clear perspective on how the features you build will evolve over time, ensuring that individual workstreams contribute to a cohesive and long-term user experience.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams such as design, engineering, data, and marketing to build great products, providing direction while creating space for others to contribute meaningfully.
  • Develop a strong understanding of both the demand and supply sides of the marketplace and design features that help maintain system balance.
  • Make thoughtful tradeoffs between user experience, business outcomes, and operational constraints to deliver practical and effective solutions.
  • Act as a champion for product marketing and storytelling to ensure the products we build are clearly understood, widely adopted, and genuinely valued by users.
  • Encourage healthy debate, challenge assumptions, and foster a culture of rigorous but pragmatic product thinking.

We'd love to hear from you if you tick some of these boxes:

  • Has strong product judgment and a bias to action. You balance data, insights, and entrepreneurial instinct to make smart decisions, and you move quickly and decisively without sacrificing the quality of your thinking.
  • Is a hands-on operator who hustles to validate ideas. You're unafraid to pick up the phone, mock something up, or test hypotheses in the scrappiest, leanest way possible to find early signal and move fast.
  • Thinks in systems, not just features. You understand how small changes impact a larger marketplace and bring a deep respect for the forces of supply and demand, knowing that success comes from maintaining a dynamic equilibrium.
  • Brings commercial awareness and multidimensional thinking. You're comfortable with incentives, tradeoffs, and messy real-world constraints, blending product, strategy, user insight, and go-to-market thinking to build products that work.
  • Leads with clarity while empowering others. You create direction for your team, value autonomy, and know how to zoom in on tactical detail while keeping sight of bold, long-term opportunities.

Bonus Points For

  • Experience working in high-growth or early-stage marketplace businesses.
  • A background that includes more than just product
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and creating structure from scratch.
  • A track record of building products that delivered both user value and commercial impact.
