Girton Grammar School is seeking an engaging Math Teacher to develop and deliver high-quality lessons, to maintain and build on our academic success.  This is a part-time and ongoing teaching position starting in January 2026.

The primary responsibility of this role is to teach Math from Year 7 through to VCE, inspiring students to develop both a passion for the subject and strong numeracy and analytical skills. The successful applicant will engage students in critical thinking, discussion, and analysis, fostering a deep appreciation of mathematics and its relevance to the world beyond the classroom.

At Girton Grammar, Math Teachers play a key role in the ongoing refinement and delivery of a rigorous, evidence-informed curriculum grounded in the Science of Learning. This role requires a commitment to providing low-variance, data-informed instruction, with a strong emphasis on explicit teaching practices that promote deep understanding and sustained success.

The successful candidate will also assist in the design and implementation of a robust Math curriculum that purposefully integrates the principles of Cognitive Load Theory, Explicit Instruction, and the Science of Learning. Key Selection Criteria / Essential Qualifications and Skills

  1. Appropriate qualification and current registration as a teacher,
  2. A passion for teaching Math in years 7-12, with a proven ability to write and deliver an outstanding Math curriculum,
  3. An understanding of, and commitment to, the principles of the Science of Learning and Explicit Instruction,
  4. Demonstrated effective delivery of teaching and learning programs,
  5. A commitment to professional development,
  6. Excellent personal communication, administrative and organisational skills,
  7. Commitment to student wellbeing and child safety, demonstrating an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children, including children with diverse needs and backgrounds,
  8. Strong skills in the use of information and communication technologies (ICT), especially as they relate to teaching and learning,
  9. Commitment to co-curricular activities.
