Community Support Worker
We have the following opportunities available for Community Support Workers to provide personal care services for our elderly clients living in Fremantle, Palmyra, Bicton, Willagee and surrounding suburbs.
- Available to work every Monday to Friday (between 8am-4pm)
- Available to work every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (between 8am-4pm).
We also have an opportunity for a carer with significant experience to work in our Pool/Float position. Ideally you would live in the Canning Vale, Southern River, Leeming, Piara Waters and surrounding areas but also willing to provide personal care services throughout the Perth metropolitan area.
These pool/float positions are a little different to that of a mainstream Community Support Worker position – such as:
- Set days and hours - Monday to Friday, 8am to 2pm (includes ½ hour unpaid lunch break)
- Cover sick calls – these may be allocated as early as 7am for an 8am start in the morning on the day of the service
- Cover leave periods
- If no services allocated, you may be required to come into Inglewood to assist with Scheduling or Admin duties for Brightwater at Home
- Willing to travel a distance to first client (we endeavour to avoid travel more than 30-45 minutes to first client but there may be requirement to occasionally do so if covering for sick or leave periods)
Essential availability: Permanent Part Time (Contracted 55 hours per fortnight): Monday to Friday - 8am to 2pm
Travel: Must be willing to travel throughout the entire Perth metropolitan area with their own vehicle
Essential: The ability to be flexible on a daily basis with an ever-changing roster and travel requirement
Brightwater can offer you:
- Travel within the community and receive an allowance of $0.99 cents per km
- Mobile phone for work purposes
- The ability to salary package up to $18,550 tax free per annum-meaning you can legitimately pay less tax and increase your take-home pay
- Our unique staff benefits program, including access to BrightwaterPlus which gives you discounts with over 370 retailers
About the role:
You will be visiting our elderly clients in their own private homes, assisting them to live independently in the community by supporting them with day-to-day tasks, social access and sometimes just keeping them company. Each day is different with different needs and some of the duties include:
- Delivering quality care and support by ensuring the holistic needs of our clients are met in accordance with their Care Plan and care package
- Personal care including showering, dressing and continence care
- Facilitating community access opportunities for our clients
- Providing cleaning, laundry and meal preparation services
- Completing documentation and reports
Our friendly Brightwater At Home team will provide all the training and support you require to be the best Community Support Worker that you can be.
About you and what you will need:
- You are comfortable working on your own, and more importantly, care about our clients as much as we do
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences
- An empathetic and considerate nature and a client-focused approach
- The ability to problem-solve and work flexibly without direct supervision
- Certificate III in Aged Care/Disability (desirable).
- A First Aid Certificate (less than 3 years old) or willing to obtain within 2 weeks of commencement
- Current valid driver's licence to drive in Western Australia, as defined by the WA Department of Transport. (essential)
- A reliable, insured car (essential)
- A satisfactory National Police Clearance that is less than one year old
Applications must be submitted through Brightwater's (applications will not be accepted via email), however shortlisting will begin immediately, and Brightwater reserves the right to close this advert before this date.
