The BelRose Group has been exclusively engaged by Riding for the Disabled Association Top End (RDA TE) to appoint new volunteer Directors to its Board. This is a unique opportunity to contribute your governance expertise and community spirit to an organisation that delivers life-changing programs.

About the organisation

RDA TE is a not-for-profit community association providing equestrian-based activities for people of all abilities across greater Darwin and Palmerston. Operating from a 26-acre equestrian centre at Marlow Lagoon, RDA TE runs recreational riding programs that support participants' physical, social and emotional development. With a committed team of accredited coaches, over 40 active volunteers and nine trained horses, RDA TE has built a strong reputation for inclusion, safety and personal growth. Guided by its new five-year strategy, the Board is focused on expanding capacity to meet growing community demand and ensuring financial sustainability.

The role

As a Director, you will play a critical part in guiding RDA TE's governance, strategy and future direction. The Board works collaboratively to ensure sound decision-making, compliance with statutory obligations and alignment with organisational values. Directors are expected to attend regular meetings, actively contribute to committees or working groups, and serve as ambassadors for RDA TE in the broader community.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight and contribute to effective governance.
  • Support the implementation of the 2025–2030 Strategic Plan.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, financial and regulatory requirements.
  • Actively participate in Board discussions and decision-making.
  • Contribute expertise to sub-committees or special projects.
  • Represent and promote RDA TE to stakeholders and the wider community.

Ideal profile

  • Previous governance or leadership experience in not-for-profit, community or business settings.
  • Financial, legal, marketing, fundraising, education, health, disability or equestrian knowledge will be highly regarded.
  • Strong commitment to inclusion and respect for people of all abilities.
  • Ability to think strategically and contribute constructively in a Board environment.
  • Capacity to commit the necessary time to meetings, preparation and community engagement.
  • A collaborative and respectful approach consistent with RDA TE's culture.
