We are currently seeking a site-based HSEQ Advisor for our Ground Engineering Construction project in Cairns. The successful candidate will have a high level of understanding in all areas of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ). They will be responsible for providing HSEQ advice and support on our team on site.

A key part of this role will be to cultivate an outstanding safety culture by building and fostering effective relationships and driving continuous improvement.

The Role

You will be a natural relationship builder with excellent communication skills and strong technical expertise to:

  • Ensure employees are undertaking activities safely and to the highest level as per project and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and audits, monitoring of work areas in conjunction with operational personnel.
  • Identify and promote reporting of hazards and near miss events (lead indicators) and implement corrective measures with the aim of preventing an incident.
  • Provide safety advice and support to project
  • Assist with investigations and implementing corrective actions
  • Motivate and champion best practice use of our systems
  • Work closely with HSE Manager and Site Supervision to prepare Health and Safety reports inline with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide guidance and support to site personnel as required for the development and review of team-based risk assessments and SWMS development, review and approval
  • Attend and contribute to the scheduled Safety meetings internally and with clients
  • Facilitate internal training programs as required

The successful candidate will be a self-starter with:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role in the Construction Industry
  • Minimum Cert IV WHS and Construction Industry White Card
  • Strong written communication and report-writing skills
  • Tech-savvy – comfortable using apps, safety platforms, and mobile reporting tools
  • Great interpersonal skills – confident engaging and coaching at all levels and able to build strong relationships
  • Positive attitude, self-motivated, and eager to learn and grow
  • Ability to manage multiple / competing priorities & make quick decisions
  • Drivers licence
