Step Into a Role That Gives BackGoondir Health Services is looking for multiple full-time Vocationally Registered General Practitioners across three major locations in regional Queensland:
- Chinchilla
- St George
These positions report to the Senior Medical Officer and form part of a multidisciplinary clinical team, delivering culturally safe, patient-centred primary healthcare to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Providing culturally responsive patient consultations (full cultural safety training and induction provided)
- Managing chronic disease and preventative health plans
- Collaborating with Aboriginal Health Practitioners and allied health teams
- Supporting maternal and child health, mental health, and wellbeing initiatives
- Utilising telehealth and local referral pathways
- Ensuring compliance with AGPAL and ISO clinical governance
- Participating in monthly peer support and professional development forums
You'll be supported by a wide clinical network, including access to dental services, cardiology (Heart of Australia), endocrinology, paediatrics, psychiatry, ophthalmology, optometry, general medicine, antenatal care, respiratory physicians (IROC), and a broad range of allied health programs.
The Kind of Doctor We're Looking ForTo be considered, you must be a Vocationally Registered (VR) GP, holding Fellowship with RACGP, ACRRM, or an equivalent college, along with unrestricted AHPRA registration.
A minimum of 3 years' experience in general practice is essential, ideally with exposure to rural, remote, or Aboriginal health settings.
You'll also bring:
- A strong understanding of cultural safety principles (or a willingness to develop this, with full training and support provided)
- Proficiency in Medicare billing and patient care planning
- The ability to work independently with a community mindset
- Interest in long-term regional engagement and continuity of care
You're a values-aligned, approachable, and proactive clinician that operates with integrity, cultural respect, and clinical diligence.

Rewards That Reflect Your ImpactYour total remuneration package will vary slightly depending on your chosen clinic location. Key benefits include:
- Base salary up to $390,000
- $30,000 superannuation
- $300 per week vehicle allowance
- Free furnished housing or a $450/week housing allowance (location dependent)
- Work Incentive Payments (WIP) between $18,000 and $35,000 per year, depending on location
- Advance Rural WIP of up to $10,000 per year, based on skills, tenure, and eligibility

In addition to these, all Goondir salaried GPs enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including:

- 50% Medicare commission on monthly billings above $21,000 — this can significantly increase your annual take-home salary, with further uplift anticipated due to new billing changes from November 2025
