Are you passionate about restorative practice and supporting young people and families to build stronger, healthier relationships? At Meli, we believe in the power of human connection to create lasting change. We're looking for a compassionate and skilled Restorative Family Worker to join our Reignite Program and help families navigate challenges, repair harm, and move forward together.

About the Role

As a Restorative Family Worker in the Reignite program, you will:

  • Facilitate restorative conversations, circles, and conferences with young people (aged 10–15) and their families.
  • Support families to identify needs, repair relationships, and co-create sustainable solutions.
  • Provide short-term case management and connect families with relevant services.
  • Collaborate with schools, youth justice, child protection, and community services to ensure holistic, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed support.
  • Contribute to reflective practice, program evaluation, and uphold Meli's values in all aspects of your work.

Position Details

  • Fixed term position until 30 June 2026
  • 0.8 FTE working 30 hours per week
  • $101,032 p/a + Super + Salary Packaging

What We're Looking For

We value individuals who bring empathy, professionalism, and a restorative mindset to their work. To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Youth Work, Social Work, Community Welfare (Diploma or higher), or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in restorative practice, particularly with young people who have caused harm.
  • Strong skills in engaging families, conducting assessments, and developing tailored support plans.
  • An understanding of trauma-informed practice and the Victorian Child Safe Standards.
  • Desirable: Experience working with high-risk youth and familiarity with restorative justice programs such as Youth Justice Group Conferencing.
