We're looking for a compassionate and skilled Child and Family Practitioner to join our Family Support and Care Services team and make a meaningful impact in the lives of children and families across the Barwon Southwest region.
About the RoleAs a Child and Family Practitioner – Connecting Families, you will:
- Deliver early intervention and parenting education through group programs and one-on-one support.
- Provide tailored, place-based responses and assertive outreach in schools, community settings, and client homes.
- Engage families to build parenting skills, confidence, and capacity for self-management.
- Conduct needs assessments, risk evaluations, and develop child and family action plans.
- Facilitate referrals and connections to education and support services.
- Collaborate with universal services and internal teams across the Connecting, Strengthening, and Restoring streams.
- Support families to build protective factors and achieve positive outcomes for children and adolescents.

We value individuals who bring dedication, empathy, and expertise to their roles. To succeed in this position, you will have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Welfare Studies, Behavioural or Health Sciences, Early Childhood, Education or a related field.
- Experience in managing complex cases with strong case practice, including client advocacy, therapeutic interventions, and family support aligned with evidence-informed frameworks.
- A sound understanding of risk and needs assessments and the factors that impact a parent's ability to care for children.
- Knowledge of the service system and available resources to support parents, children, and young people.
- Experience in delivering and facilitating evidence-based parenting programs.
