**What you’ll do**

As a Family Counsellor, you will:

- Offer play therapy counselling to children from the ages of 3 - 12.
- Work with teens and offer positive parenting support to their caregivers
- Conduct assessments and develop treatment plans for families with various issues, such as conflict, communication, parenting, separation, trauma, grief, and mental health
- Provide evidence-based interventions, such as family systems therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy, solution-focused therapy, and play therapy
- Provide counselling services and therapeutic supports at schools
- Facilitate group sessions and workshops on topics such promoting emotion regulation and teen support
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as social workers, psychologists, and psychiatrists, to ensure coordinated care and referrals
- Maintain accurate and confidential records and reports
- Adhere to ethical and professional standards and regulations

**What we’re looking for**

To be successful in this role, you will need:

- Tertiary qualifications in Counselling, social work, or a related field
- Demonstrated clinical skills in individual and couple counselling
- Proven ability to adhere to clinical, professional, and ethical standards
- Current and comprehensive knowledge of counselling theory and practice
- A current registration or membership with a relevant professional body, such as the Australian Association of Family Therapy or the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia
- Western Australia Police Clearance
- Working with Children Check
- Proficiency in using various therapeutic modalities and techniques
- Excellent communication, rapport-building, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- A positive attitude and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
- All applicants must have completed training in play therapy or be willing to enrol in a play therapy course.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $85,000.00 - $93,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 8 - 16 per week
