ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Supervisor / Factory Foreman / Leading Hand to drive continuous improvement and optimisation of all processes. You will work alongside staff on the tools and oversee all daily operations of the factory including production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed. The successful candidate will have the key skills to further develop processes and procedures that will maximise production and quality whilst maintaining OH&S standards. Pay will consist of a base salary and incentives to reward increases in productivity, sales and profitability.

It is important that the Supervisor / Factory Foreman / Leading Hand has the willingness and ability to work on the tools and lead by example. It is only a small company and sometimes a large part of the week will be required to be working in the crew.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organise, direct and run optimum day to day operations
  • Increase productivity and minimise costs whilst maintaining high quality and service
  • Implement strategies to meet objectives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus
  • Train and develop staff
  • Monitor operations and discipline staff where required
  • Have the ability to be hands on, work alongside staff and set a high standard. This will include working with nail guns, routers, saws and other wood working machinery and power tools.
  • Be physically fit and strong and able to cope with very heavy, physical and fast paced work
  • Quality control
  • Deal with customers/potential customers and address any concerns
  • Report and interact directly with owners
  • An ideal candidate would have the ability to explore new products, directions and growth opportunities for the business as well as deal with suppliers and extract the best result from them in regards to price and service

Requirements

  • Proven experience which would enable the candidate to meet responsibilities
  • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
  • Be knowledgeable of OHS, lean manufacturing, quality, productivity, inventory and factory processes
  • Computer literacy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
  • Manufacturing/trade/engineering qualifications will be highly regarded
