Head of Design & Construction
to help shape the next chapter of our story and lead the evolution of how our brands come to life.

In this pivotal role, you'll lead the design, planning, and delivery of new stores, refurbishments, and upgrades, shaping the spaces where Boost Juice, Betty's Burgers, and Salsas come to life. You'll ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard, delivering maximum value to Retail Zoo and our franchise partners. This will be done by establishing standard designs, creating reliable execution plans, managing project controls and reporting, and identifying risks and opportunities early, making the Design and Development team the go-to place in the business to reliably deliver our assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement annual plans for new site rollouts, refurbishment programs, and asset upgrades.
  • Ensure all projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and with minimal disruption to operations.
  • Establish and manage standardised design frameworks, incorporating stakeholder input while controlling scope changes.
  • Oversee the design review process to manage and implement approved changes.
  • Lead monthly project reporting on all projects and programs, escalating risks and opportunities as needed.
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety, design, project management, and value delivery.
  • Maintain a robust contractor pool, ensuring competitive tendering and strong health & safety capabilities, and strong contract administration
  • Establish and manage a robust quality control process.

Our perfect candidate will have:

  • 5–10 years' experience in design and/or construction, ideally within the food retail sector.
  • Proven success in strategic development and implementation of store development initiatives.
  • Exceptional time management, project coordination, and organisational skills.
  • Hands-on, practical approach with a focus on delivering results.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement process improvements and solve complex problems.
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills with a collaborative approach to stakeholder relationships.
