Melbourne Grammar School is seeking a Head of Counselling Services to join our team on our South Yarra campus.
The Head of Counselling Services plays a pivotal role in nurturing the wellbeing of the students at Melbourne Grammar School. The Head of Counselling Services will develop a full understanding of, and play a significant role in, the safety, support and pastoral care needs of students and provide support to staff where required.
The incumbent works closely with the Heads of Campus, Director of Students and Heads of House to keep the lines of communication open regarding student welfare and assists in coordinating the overall ongoing development and implementation of pastoral care guidelines within the School.
This role will see you
- Develop and maintain a clear overall counselling framework for the School
- Play a major role in the counselling of Senior School students to promote emotional and psychological wellbeing
- Undertake diagnosis and treatment of other potential behavioural, social and emotional needs
- With the Senior School Head of Student Development. Deputy Head of Wadhurst, and Deputy Head of Grimwade House, lead the professional development of Pastoral Care leaders in each area of the school
- Determine a whole school schedule of proactive mental health intervention sessions for students and their parents based on research informed understanding of current childhood and mental health issues and needs
- Present wellbeing practices for staff at Staff Meetings at all three campuses at least once a year Monitor the pastoral care needs of individual students, in collaboration with relevant staff
Must hold, or be willing to obtain, a current Employee Working with Children Clearance
