The OpportunityThe Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is seeking to recruit a Painter within Building Fabric Services of the Maintenance Services Section of the Building Services Branch.

Maintenance Services is the maintenance authority for Parliament House and is responsible for repairs and maintenance of the building's structure, fabric, finishes, landscape and all engineering services such as air conditioning, power, lighting, hydraulic services and movement systems.
The Building Fabric Services is a Business unit within Maintenance Services, responsible for maintaining the building fabric and furniture within Parliament House. This includes both internal and external surfaces which comprise timber, carpet, concrete, stone, glazing, painted surfaces and furniture.

Trade qualification relevant to the position
Undertake a medical assessment to determine fitness-for-duty prior to appointment
- The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected/Restricted) security clearance.

Immediate supervisor: Senior Painter
Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Service Level 4 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Undertake all work requiring the application of relevant trade skills in a proactive manner ensuring the highest levels of maintenance to the building fixtures, fittings and furniture is achieved.
Undertake tasks as a member of the Building Fabric Services team in either a workshop situation or in the field with minimal supervision.
Assist the Senior Painter with the relevant maintenance services trade staff, ensuring all scheduled tasks are completed.
Assist in the guidance, direction and support of other staff.
Report and record completed tasks and work to the Senior Painter, ensure relevant information is entered in the computerised maintenance system.
Ensure the highest standards of safety, in all areas of operation, in compliance with Work Health and Safety policy.

Currently, the salary range for this position is $80,672 - $87,659 per annum plus super and other relevant allowances.

Australian citizenship – to be eligible for employment with DPS, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
Security clearance and character clearance – the preferred applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the level specified, as well as complete and be deemed suitable through a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
Health assessment – a pre-employment health assessment will be required where there are physical or medical requirements for the role.
