Role Purpose:

The Accountant will own and manage the integrity and timely provision of finance information to the business in Australia and / or New Zealand as well as Group HQ in the UK. As a key member of the B&H Finance team this role will drive a full range of activities including month end, annual budgeting, operational and business analysis, year-end audit, and ad hoc projects defined by the business as well as playing an active role in improving systems, processes, and reporting to support business growth.

Main Roles & Accountabilities

Statutory Reporting

  • Oversee audit preparation, visit and successful closure.

Management Accounting

  • Create monthly accounts to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts.
  • Prepare management report pack for the senior management team.
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported.
  • Develop budgets and financial plans for the company based on research and data reports.
  • Examine all financial reports and data closely to check for discrepancies.
  • Create systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations.
  • Produce flash sales, cash management and working capital reports.

Taxation and Regulation

  • Work with tax advisers to - Review Corporation tax computations.
  • Establish and implement financial reporting systems to comply with government regulations and legislation.

Treasury Management

  • Keep the cash flow forecast up to date as and when new information presents itself.
  • Produce a cash flow forecast on a weekly basis and present it to local management.
  • Ensure that the operating businesses have appropriate cash and purchasing controls in place.
  • Drive receivables collection process for NZ and AU, where agreed.

Controls and Procedures

  • Review all financial plans and budgets regularly to look for cost reduction opportunities.
  • Ensure that all prices are accurately recorded and detailed uniformly to ensure that appropriate margins are being maintained and to ensure sales analysis can be compared like for like.
  • From time to time, re-underline the companys policies to the operating businesses

Supplier Management

  • Ensure the maintenance and development of supplier relations and actively participate in the negotiation of rates with key suppliers.
  • Provide support to the Accounts Officer in supplier reconciliation, payment etc.

Systems

  • Suggest updates and improvements for accounting systems, including payroll and invoicing.
  • Seek to use technology where possible to maximise efficiencies.
  • Work with the Finance Manager to drive improved process automation (Shipamax)

Your Experience

  • Detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys variety and is motivated by both day-to-day financial management and contributing to longer-term strategic decision-making.
  • Strong presentation and reporting skills.
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise effectively and maintain attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage non-financial stakeholders.
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Professional, team-oriented, and ambitious with a proactive mindset.
  • Capable of operating at both strategic and day-to-day levels.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent
  • CPA or CA qualification (or working towards).
  • Solid understanding of accounting practices and terminology
  • Good working knowledge of finance systems and reporting tools.
  • Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office (excel, Work, PowerPoint).
