The Spicers Group employs approximately 650 employees across Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia. In Australia, we have around 400 employees working in sites across all states and territories for our Spicers Australia and Signet businesses.  We sell print, packaging and visual communications products to small, medium and large businesses around the country, and our company brands are well-known across the markets we serve.

About this Role

This is a permanent full-time position, based in the Spicers Australia head office at Dandenong South.

The Spicers HSEQ Lead is a national role partnering with managers and staff at all levels to achieve HSEQ objectives of the business by effectively implementing, managing and utilising safety systems while also developing behaviours and approaches that sustain safety into the future.

This role reports to the Group Safety & Australia HSEQ Manager.

Key Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Proactively promote and model the HSEQ culture across Spicers and the wider group;
  • Make recommendations for and lead HSEQ improvements throughout Spicers;
  • Coach and mentor departments to develop relevant HSEQ metrics and actively contribute to improving those metrics;
  • Provide assistance to customers for matters relating to HSEQ;
  • Liaise with department personnel to identify HSEQ issues and risks and implement effective controls;
  • Actively promote and develop a high level of HSEQ awareness and related behaviours within Spicers;
  • Take a lead role in the commitment to safety standards and initiatives in order to achieve Zero Harm;
  • Partner with the business for the execution of business operations and associated HSEQ plans;
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with relevant internal stakeholders and trading partners; and
  • Lead consultation on changes to the Safety Management System (SMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), Quality Management System (QMS).

Skills and Experience:

  • High level of knowledge and depth of practical experience working with HSEQ legislation, regulations, and relevantStandards;
  • Demonstrated ability to implement, enhance and facilitate compliance with safety systems;
  • Ability to set priorities, manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines;
  • Excellent report writing skills and exposure to mainstream QMS, HACCP, EMS or SMS;
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to influence key stakeholders;
  • Auditing experience, internal and external;
  • Acute attention to detail, a customer service orientation combined with a systems thinking approach;
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve business outcomes; and
  • 5 years' experience in the HSEQ field – desirable.
