About the role
National Parks and Wildlife Service has an exciting opportunity that doesn't come up every day for a Team Leader to join us on an ongoing capacity. As Team Leader – Roads, you will lead and manage a team of multi-disciplinary specialists, fostering a centre of excellence in program and project delivery. You will also coordinate the planning, procurement, and implementation of road and fire trail projects, working closely with consultants, contractors and key stakeholders to ensure safe, compliant and effective operations.
In this role, you will also oversee the development of detailed project plans, budgets and reporting, manage risk and quality controls and provide expert advice on NPWS's extensive road networks. Duties also include administering fire access and fire trails programs, ensuring systems and processes are in place for consistent data capture and timely reporting along with collaborating with agencies such as Transport for NSW, Snowy Hydro, TransGrid, the Rural Fire Service and ski resort operators. You will contribute to the safe, sustainable and efficient delivery of infrastructure that supports both park operations and community needs
About You
You are an experienced project or contract manager with a strong background in roads and infrastructure, skilled at leading teams to deliver complex work programs and ensuring the right expertise is in place to meet demanding priorities. Confident in managing contracts and day-to-day operations, you translate government and divisional objectives into clear direction for your team, driving accountability and outcomes. With proven experience in road maintenance and fire trail operations, you bring the capability to deliver safe, sustainable and compliant projects across the unique and beautiful landscape of Kosciuszko National Park.
Essential requirements
- Extensive experience in analysis, problem solving and project management with a proven ability to identify issues and manage competing priorities while meeting deadlines
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage a team to consistently deliver a high quality customer service against agreed performance standards.
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated relevant, equivalent professional experience
