Reports to: Owner & Director

Location: South Australia (services provided nationally)

Employment Type: Executive / Ongoing

Position Purpose

The Head of Operations Director is responsible for the day-to-day operational leadership, risk management, and compliance systems across Morethandis. This role ensures services are delivered in line with NDIS Practice Standards, participant safeguarding requirements, and continuous improvement frameworks. The Head of Operations Director provides assurance to the Owner & Director through regular reporting, enabling effective governance, audit readiness, and high-quality participant outcomes.

Core Competencies

  • Operational Leadership – Strong capability in service delivery oversight, staff management, and performance monitoring.
  • Risk & Compliance Oversight – Skilled in maintaining risk registers, compliance systems, and safeguarding frameworks.
  • Participant Safeguards – Knowledge of human rights, child safety, and restrictive practice rules within the NDIS.
  • Incident & Quality Management – Effective management of incident reporting, complaints, audits, and feedback mechanisms.
  • Continuous Improvement – Ability to drive service innovation, workforce capability, and evidence-based practice.

Key Responsibilities

Governance & Operational Management

  • Implement operational policies, procedures, and systems to meet NDIS Practice Standards.
  • Coordinate internal audits, governance meetings, and compliance reporting.
  • Provide fortnightly operational reports to the Owner & Director.

Risk Management

  • Maintain and update the organisational risk register.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks across all service areas.
  • Escalate significant risks to the Owner & Director.

Participant Rights & Safeguards

  • Ensure participant rights, dignity, privacy, and safety are embedded in all service delivery.
  • Oversee safeguarding strategies including child safety and trauma-informed care.
  • Ensure compliance with the NDIS Restrictive Practices and Behaviour Support Rules.

Provision of Supports

  • Monitor service quality and alignment with participant goals and NDIS plans.
  • Oversee staff supervision, rostering, and workforce capability.
  • Implement participant feedback and service monitoring systems.

Behaviour Support & Restrictive Practices

  • Ensure behaviour support plans are implemented according to clinical oversight.
  • Monitor restrictive practice authorisation processes and compliance.

Incident & Complaints Management

  • Oversee incident reporting and management systems.
  • Ensure reportable incidents are lodged with the NDIS Commission within required timeframes.
  • Monitor complaints handling and resolution processes.

Human Resources & Workforce Development

  • Lead recruitment, induction, and mandatory training compliance.
  • Supervise and monitor workforce performance against organisational standards.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture of accountability and continuous learning.

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive implementation of the Quality Improvement Plan.
  • Support external and internal audits and ensure timely actioning of recommendations.
  • Oversee systems for capturing and acting on feedback from participants and stakeholders.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Proven senior leadership experience within NDIS or human services.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NDIS Practice Standards and Quality Indicators.
  • Strong capability in risk management, safeguarding, and compliance systems.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and staff leadership skills.
  • Experience in incident management and continuous improvement systems.

Desirable

  • Qualifications in business, management, disability, NDIS and/or aged care or related field.
  • Experience working within behaviour support or restrictive practices frameworks.
  • Demonstrated contribution to sector development or best-practice initiatives.

Audit & Compliance Alignment

This position ensures operational implementation of:

  • Governance & Risk: Maintaining compliance systems and organisational risk register.
  • Safeguards: Embedding participant rights, child safety, and restrictive practice compliance.
  • Service Quality: Monitoring delivery of person-centred, evidence-based supports.
  • Continuous Improvement: Overseeing quality improvement, audit readiness, and innovation

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
