We are seeking compassionate and reliable Disability Support Workers to join our team in Southbrook, QLD. This role involves providing high-quality, person-centred support to an 8-year-old NDIS participant before and after school. The focus is on building independence, supporting daily routines, and fostering a calm, structured environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision and assistance before and after school, ensuring the participant's safety and wellbeing.
  • Support daily self-care routines, including getting ready for school, unpacking bags, and assisting with meals or snacks.
  • Encourage emotional regulation and calming strategies during transitions.
  • Support safe behaviour management and respond appropriately to meltdowns or challenges.
  • Build communication and social skills through everyday interactions and structured activities.
  • Work collaboratively with families and the broader support team to ensure consistency and continuity of care.
  • Maintain clear and accurate shift notes, incident reports, and communication logs.

Requirements (Essential):

  • Current Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDISWC)
  • National Police Check (within the last 12 months)
  • Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module
  • Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • Own reliable vehicle with comprehensive car insurance
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong professional boundaries and ability to follow behaviour support and risk management plans

Desirable:

  • Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (Level 2) or similar support needs
  • Previous work in NDIS, community, or disability sectors
  • Ability to provide consistent, structured, and patient support in a school-related environment

This is an in-person role based in Southbrook, QLD. Hours are flexible within the participant's support needs, with an emphasis on morning and afternoon shifts.

Job Type: Casual

Pay: From $35.04 per hour

Expected hours: 4 – 10 per week
